If you’ve already been through the experience, you may need help figuring out how to manage a second. We can help! Gentle Giraffes’ families can feel confident that each newborn care specialist, postpartum doula, overnight support team members, and baby nurses are providing the best consulting and newborn care possible.

Your needs will be unique to your particular family and those in and outside your family who may be caring for your baby on a regular basis, and we’re happy to design your newborn program accordingly. Dr Bonnie Wims

Meet Dr. Bonnie Wims

Founder of Wims & Associates

Today we are so excited to interview Virtual Therapist, Dr. Bonnie Wims!  Dr. Wims was professionally trained as a Counseling Psychologist in London, England where she founded her private practice and began working with individuals from various backgrounds who were seeking guidance in understanding and harnessing emotional and behavioral difficulties they encounter.

What do you do?

“As a UK trained Counseling Psychologist, I work with clients to help identify areas that are difficult, validate concerns, assist in challenging perceptions, and encourage change where possible. Through a supportive and trusting virtual relationship, we can begin to move into acceptance of ourselves and allow an openness to the exciting possibilities in our lives.”

Why is it beneficial to newborns?

“I provide therapy to adults so I can be useful for newborns by giving the parents a place to sort through challenging emotions as a result of having a baby. Although it can be a beautiful time, it is also challenging and parents can often struggle with anxiety and depression.”

What are the top 3 reasons it is beneficial for parents?

1.) A safe space to talk about fears and challenges of having a child

2.) Relationship counseling

3.) Postpartum

What I Would Like To Offer Women And Families

Meet Marisa Fanelli

President at Healing Point Therapeutics.

Marisa Fanelli graduated from NESA, the oldest acupuncture school in the US, with a Master’s in Acupuncture in 2010. After passing the MA medical boards, she opted to create her practice in the Metrowest area. She has seen thousands of women for all types of females issues and is grateful to be a part of their fertility and pregnancy journeys.

Three Reasons to Work With Marisa:

Before Pregnancy:

As an acupuncturist I am able to nourish the body in order to help promote and sustain a healthy pregnancy. Acupuncture regulates the hormones, balances the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, and puts the body into an optimal place to create and hold a pregnancy.

During Pregnancy:

Did you know that acupuncture can flip a breech baby? As odd as it sounds, we acupuncturists have a protocol that involves painlessly burning a tiny piece of herb on the little toe. This process has an amazing success rate for turning the baby into the correct position. It has been used for years, and many doctors refer patients to me for this protocol before attempting to turn the baby manually. This procedure is safe, effective, and comfortable.

After Pregnancy:

Many women are also unaware that acupuncture can work wonders for their mind and body after they deliver. Acupuncture stimulates milk production, and it can be a miracle for mothers who are struggling with their supply. It nourishes the blood; in layman’s terms, this means that it can bring your energy and strength back to normal levels much more quickly than you would expect. Due to its action of regulating hormones, acupuncture can also be a powerful tool in beating postpartum depression.

Marisa founded Healing Point Therapeutics for those seeking transformation at every level. So if this sounds like it’s for you, Marisa and Gentle Giraffe’s can’t wait to hear from you.

How To Acclimate Your Baby And Animal Together

How To Acclimate Your Baby And Animal Together

Today we are so excited to interview team member Michelle Stern. Michelle is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed, Certified Canine Behavior Counselor Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and S.T.A.R Puppy Evaluator.

Michelle is also the owner of Pooch Parenting!

What do you do?

“I provide parents with training, skills and strategies so their children and dogs can have a successful relationship.”

What are the top 3 reasons it is beneficial for parents?

“It will help parents to feel prepared, confident and safe. It will also help to alleviate the guilt they feel for the lack of attention their family dog (the first baby) will be getting for awhile.

Some pets may not be safe with kids, so there is fear involved too, as the stakes are so high for everyone.

The best way I would love to be of benefit to new parents is to share more about my online course called “Preparing Dog for New Baby.”

I have a stand alone version and a Premium version that includes two 30-minute consults with me. I also have a free Facebook Group

called Parenting Kids and Dogs (with lots of expecting families in there).

I also have my new work-baby, a membership called “Thriving Parents of Kids and Dogs” – it’s a program where I help people with mindset,

management, dog training skills, kid training skills and lots of other support. It’s one part support group and one part on-call dog trainer!

I plan to launch that in August.”
